We’re excited to introduce Jacob Landsberg, the newest member of our legal team at the Anderson Hunter Law Firm! Jacob is an associate who enjoys helping small businesses manage tax-related matters.

Jacob practices business, tax, real estate, and trust and estate law at our firm. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association Tax Section. In addition to his legal credentials, he maintains a CPA license in Washington state.

An Appreciation For Contracts

Jacob has a background in both law and business. He graduated from UW Bothell with a BA in Business and Accounting, then went on to earn an MBA in Entrepreneurship at Gonzaga University, a JD from the University of Oregon, and an LLM in Taxation from the University of Washington. After interning at a couple of different law firms and working as a law clerk, he spent almost three years as an associate at an accounting firm.

Unlike many people, Jacob finds transactional work fun. He appreciates the planning that goes into contracts, but doesn’t enjoy preparing tax returns, which naturally led him to go into law.

“I like helping small businesses grow and working on what makes them happy,” Jacob says. He enjoys “taking the parts of the work that a lot of them don’t want to do, or don’t understand, or need help with.”

Tax law keeps changing at both the state and federal levels. Many people will need to file new forms or pay different amounts in the coming years, among other changes. “I am happy to get to educate people and help them with it,” Jacob says.

Starting a New Chapter at Anderson Hunter

Jacob first heard about the Anderson Hunter Law Firm from Jeff Wishko, an attorney who practiced law here while Jacob was in school. It stood out as a great place to work with a good atmosphere and culture. When a job opportunity arose, Jacob took it.

“I’d heard good things from people in the community about it,” Jacob says about the firm. “They help protect the clients that I want to work with, in the area I want to be in, so I happily took the opportunity.”

A Pacific Northwest Native

Jacob grew up in Mukilteo and has spent most of his life in the area, loving the Pacific Northwest weather and the accessibility of Seattle’s sports. He and his wife have season tickets to the Seattle Sounders and Seattle Reign. They also love going to Mariners and AquaSox games.

In the past, Jacob enjoyed working with the Mukilteo Farmers’ Market. He has also helped young entrepreneurs with their tax questions by serving on a University of Gonzaga entrepreneurship board for the past ten years. He looks forward to contributing to the community in new ways through pro bono work.

Outside of sports, Jacob’s free time is often taken up by his two attention-hogging cats and chinchilla. They may be held liable for sitting on the books he tries to read and distracting him from activities like watching TV.
